In year 2009 suddenly strange problem has struck the human kind - women no longer are able to get pregnant. 18 years later the youngest human being alive, teenage boy are killed in accident, which is the biggest news on TV. The world has changes since - the huge number of imigrants flooded Great Britain and strict laws were introduced to limit their admission and movement within country. Theo Faron, average worker in some company, is suddenly contacted by his ex-girlfriend Julian, that he lost touch with years ago. They met when they both were activists, Julian remained with the radical groups, while Theo settled down. Julian asks him for help in getting woman named Kee to Brighton. This requires special permission and Theo’s cousin could be helpful with getting it. Julian is killed when the car they are travelled in was attacked by a gang, from this point Theo has to help Kee without knowing who can he trust. Soon he discovers that Kee is illegal immigrant and also... she is pregnant.

Sci fi film based on P.D. James novel presents the world in which there is no tommorow - people can’t reproduce anymore, so most of the things in world don’t matter anymore. Film made with large budget and impressive cast is example of classic science fiction, where the story asks the question about our future rather than giving the answers.
