Back in the times when computer scifi games were still based completely on text or simple graphics the boardgames were the alternative that gave a lot of players a lot to do using their imagination. "Wreck of the B.S.M. Pandora" and its prequel "Voyage of the B.S.M. Pandora" were both designed as inserts in the Ares Magazine. With limitations of the board size and that the games could not use any fancy equipment the creators achieved a great success by offering a really interesting plots and making a games so a single player could use them.
During the exploration mission of spaceship B.S.M. Pandora the crew hibernation was interrupted by the alarms that were signaling the malfunction of the main power source. The crewmembers, still dazed and confused about what exactly is going on, discover that the alien species they were transporting in the pods are running free on the decks. With limited time until the power source will shut down (and kill the crew) they have to check every part of the spaceship and find the equipment needed to fix the ship and survive. But the other problem is that the aliens species sometimes are carrying some of the equipment, so it can’t be found exactly where it can be expected. Before entering the next part of the spaceship you can take a peak through viewport, so you won’t be surprised by the presence of alien behind the door, but it takes time. The time that you don’t have that much.
Just like "Voyage of the B.S.M. Pandora" this game was designed for a single player, but the complexity of the plot that takes place on a small board is astonishing. Again - just like "Voyage of the B.S.M. Pandora" - it is surprisingly good game considering what were the limitations of being only insert to the magazine.
