Jet Morgan and his crew return to Moon from their journey towards Mars, during which they discovered that not only Mars is inhabited, but also that the creatures on Mars are planning to invade Earth. After the long trip Morgan and his men are tired, they have lost most of the crew and few ships, not all they can think of is to share the data they gathered with authorities and rest. But fate have different plans for them - while on the Moon they are given orders to keep their return a secret and prepare for another mission. It looks like Martians have already arrived to Earth and Morgan, Mitchell, Doc Matthews and Lemmy are the only human that can actually tell if the strange objects that were observed are what they saw on Mars. Soon they are transported to Lake District, where one of the ships has landed, in order to inspect it.
Classic British scifi radio show that was part of the trilogy Journey into Space by Charles Chilton. While two previous parts were telling the story of travel to Mars and discovery of life on Mars the last one brought the main characters back to Earth, where they struggle to stop the Martian invasion. The shows were so popular during original run that thy gathered more audience than TV shows aired at the same time, which was a bit of surprise. Since then they enjoyed many re-runs and further adaptations.
