In future the people are no longer as free as today. The central planning system forces them to take mind-altering drugs so they would be under control and sexual intercourse or any sort of relationsips are prohibited. All of it is vital to keep them concentrated on ther work and to ensure they will make no mistakes. If anyone breakes the rules he is taken away by the police androids. Woman (LUH 3417) work in the CCTV control center and shares a room with a man (THX 1138) who works in factory that produces the police androids. One day she switches their drugs and for the first in his life THX 1138 experiences any feelings, which leads to sex. Without his drugs THX soon makes a dangerous mistake at work and they both are arrested.

Debut of George Lucas as director it is rather strange science fiction movie that shows how people would end if they won?t start to ask questions and will just let other people control them. The film most of the time has very little dialogues, there is very little elements in scenography, so it takes a will to adjust to the style. The message is interesting, but lacks a little bit when it comes to narration (for example how did society became central controlled).
