Teenage boy wakes up in an undergound service elevator as it reaches the ground level. He can?t remember who he is or what happened to him, the sight of other teenagers at the surface just increases his confussion. They threat him roughly, as he soon learns each month a new boy is transported to the surface through the elevator, but none of them knows what are they doing here. They all live in small ground called Glade surrounded by very high stone walls with only one entrance in them, but it seems the entrance in operated by some force and great dangers awaits behind it. The boy recalls his own name, Thomas, and small bits of memory begin to appear. Each of the teenagers has a role in their "society", Thomas feels he would like to be among the Runners, who at dawn cross the entrance into the large maze behind it and return before nightfall when the entrance closes. No one can live through the night in the maze, although no one can tell what exactly lurks there. Thomas is attacked by a Runner called Ben, who was stung by a mysterious creature from maze and became delirious. The boys know that there is no cure for the disease caused by the sting of Griever, as they call the creatures, so they leave Ben in the Maze to die. Minho and Alby enter the maze to retrace steps of Ben, but when the entrance is about to close boys see Minho dragging unconscious Alby, who was stunged. Thomas runs inside the maze to help him, but the entracne closes and they are trapped inside the maze for the night.

Scifi movie based on James Dashner novel, first of the series of the moies that (most probably) will be produced later. It is another production that mixes mystery with science fiction with heavy CGI technology. It offers interesting plot, good atmosphere on one hand and some cliches and rather corny dialogues on the other. Overall it is above average production, unfortunately from the start planned as series, which means that the first movie has very little to offer without other parts.
