The Fellowship of the Ring splits up to avoid any problems among the group - Frodo and Sam continue their journey to Mordor to destroy the ring, while the two other Hobbits have been captured by the orcs. Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn set out to catch the orcs before they will harm the Hobbits. But more grim events takes place in the Middle-Earth - Saruman have finished preparing his army of orcs and other beasts and sent tousands of them to Rohan, where they begin to pillage the land. King of Rohan, Th?oden, was under spell of Saruman, orders his people to runaway to the fortress Helm?s Deep, but that puts them in mortal danger.

Second part of J.R.R. Tolkien?s trilogy moves from the tale of journey of small group to Mordor to more global events from the edge of politics and military. Sauron begins to cast a long shadow over the kingdoms and it is up to Gandalf to stop him. This part of the trilogy is more spectacular when it comes to battle scenes, but at the same time the pace of the story was somehow lowered. Still a great fantasy movie.
