Sarah is depressed aftr she lost her husband and daughter in car accident. One year later her friends take her on a spelunking trip to Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina hoping to resume their broken relations. Six young women enter the cave that one of them, Juno, chosen. When they move through the next passage it collapses behind them and traps them inside the mountain. After a heated discussion Juno admits that she was never in this cave, which is most probably not fully explored, and has no idea if there is another exit. With no other options they descent into the next levels of the caves until they find strange painting on the wall suggesting that there is another way out. Later they find remains of animals and soon they realize they are not alone in the dark caves.

British horror movie with elements of science fiction - group of friends enter the caves that are inhabited by strange creatures that live in the darkness. Despite rather limited potential and very simple plot the film became huge success and unfortunatelly even sequel was made (which was a huge mistake).
