Scientific experiment that aimed in solving the problem of global warming backfired and whole Earth returned to ice age. Fifteen years later there is only a small group of survivors travelling on board of Snowpiercer, the self-sufficient train that travels around the world on closed track. With time the people aboard have created the social stratification with the higher caste living in front sections and tail sections are inhabited by labor force. But with the stratification became the suppression of the poorer people and the armed guards to make them do what is required. Curtis Everett and his mentor Gilliam are preparing a revolt of the tail sections, so they could get better food and better conditions.

Film based on comic books presents the post-apocalyptic world in which the Snowpiercer train is the only oasis of human kind and the only place where life can actually exist. The tensions between the different groups of inhabitants leads to a revolt that may not only change the order, but even end the run of Snowpiercer. Good idea for the plot, interesting reality in which the survivors live, but overall the story is a bit too simple and train as presented in the movie is in some parts simply idiotic (like sauna section, night club section, etc) and on the other hand there are no places to sleep, very few places where food is produced, the corridors are very wide with limited space in other parts of the train. Overall good idea, promising plot, but final effect is somewhere between good science fiction and poor martial arts movies.
