The past of River Tam finally catches up with the crew of Serenity. The day her brother rescued her from the secret research facility the chase after her has begun. Now agent named The Operative is using all the resources available to find her and his resources are almost unlimited. Inara, who left the Serenity, contacts the captain asking for help. He, even thought realizes it is trap, decides to face the enemy and starts the cat-and-mouse game with The Operative.

Film that was made a closure for TV series Firefly when it was cut short after only 14 episodes. The protests of the fans did not forced the network to change their minds, but instead this movie was made. Same set of characters and same cast in a single story that links the mystery of River Tam and the future of Serenity. Film made with more spectacular story than the episodes of the series, but overall kept in similiar style.
