Mars I spaceship lands on the surface of Mars and the astronauts establish the base, which will be the first step in colonization of the planet. If their project to produce oxygen in oxygen would work it would be the major breakthrough. But during the exploration giant vortex that seems to have some sort of consciousness attacks the astronauts. Spaceship Mars II is sent with rescue mission, but while orbiting the planet they discover on the surface what looks like a set of graves. Soon they are given the orders to prepare for landing, when problems begin.

Quite realistic sci fi movie that depicts what the Mars mission could look like and the unknown that people may find on the surface. It mixes the elements of science, mystery and fantasy. Comparing to other such movies the keeping the reality close to what space travel would look like are strong points. But the plot, even though involving, is a bit too simple and perhaps even disappointing when the story progresses.
