In distant future alien species known as Formics attack the Earth and the colonies inhabited by human beings. Millions of people are killed during those attacks and after 50 years long war humans are finally ready to counter attack. They gathered enough experience to modify the training of ship commanders and right now teenagers, that often learned their skills in computer games, are gathered in academies, where best of them are chosen to in future join the military forces. The best and most talented of them are taught all the basics of navigation, steering and fighting in space, which means in complete vacuum, where the rules are completely different than in the atmosphere. One of the cadets, Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, gathers the attention of Colonel Hyrum Graff, who sees his special skills and hopes that Ender could be next Mazer Rackham - the hero, who destroyed the Formics mothership and saved millions of people during the war. Ender is recluse, doesn’t seem to get along with other cadets, but soon proves to be good pilot and leader of his own platoon. But soon Graff reveales what challenge awaits Ender...

Film based on Orson Scott Card novel has everything to be a very poor sci fi movie - the kids playing games, the frictions between young cadets, the puppy love story, but thankfully the plot is multilayered and the whole movie gains a lot of value towards the end. Even though most of the movie is rather kids-oriented it is quite nice sci fi movie that could be entertaining not only to kids and teenagers.
