Gabe and Etta, pair of comedians, finish another gig in a club somewhere in Los Angeles. It was a success, although some unusual characters they met afterwards, make them think they ended up in a Twilight Zone. Nevertheless Gabe and Etta are optimistic about their next meeting - a producer is gonna take a look at the script that they wrote. Unfortunately the producer turns out to be a douche bag, who would prefer them to write something about dragons instead. But that disappointment is nothing compared to what the next morning will bring - there is no electricity, there is no Internet, the phones do not work. While walking their dog, Watson, Gabe meets one of the neighbours, who is convinced that the supposed apocalypse that must have happened, is the fault of the Chinese. With no other sources of information, Gabe and Etta try to survive in their house for few days, but when the water and gas are cut off, they realize it is time to leave Los Angeles. But where they could go?

Independent scifi comedy set in a post-apocalyptic California. And I don’t mean Fallout-like post-apocalyptic California, it is more hipster-like California. Gabe and Etta take their pets and begin their journey from one weird character to another, from one weird situation to another. The idea was perhaps not that original, but unusual style of the story, unusual take on the genre makes Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse stand out among post-apocalyptic movies. It was an independent production, so of course, it is not a masterpiece, but with solid script and good enough cast it is above average production.
