Advanced technology makes it possible to completely hide the identity of a person - special uniform that cover the whole body is displaying random images simulating the person?s look. Those uniforms are used by the undercover policemen to keep their identity safe. One of those cops is working on infiltrating the group of dealers that are selling a new drug known as Substance D, that is causing serious mental disorders. Since he spends his time with the dealers he also becomes addicted to Substance D and the medical department is worried that his brain can create the delusions. From that point he is no longer sure on which side he is - is he a cop working undercover or is he drug dealer being under surveilance by evil secret police.

Film made in interpolated rotoscope technique, which means that scenes filmed in classic way were transformed into animation. Film is based on a Philip K. Dick novel of the same title and just like in his other works we see the world in which not many things are certain - together with the main character we see things that might be true or just delusion. Good cast and interesting plot, but comparing to other Dick works this one is rather average.
