Original Carrier Command was a 1988 sci-fi game set on Earth, in which as a commander of automatic naval carrier we were trying to take over control of the archipelago if islands while enemy was doing the same on the other side of the archipelago. The emphasis was put on planning, logistics and action scenes during which we were able to control Mantas and Walruses, the vehicles that were transported aboard the carrier.

The modernized version prepared by Czech company was move into completely different direction, instead of strategy and action game we got real-time strategy and shooter, which was a bit of let down for the fans of original game. For one the basic rules of the game are almost identical to Command & Conquer and similar titles - there are garages on the island that keep producing the enemy tanks, so you have to destroy them, you have to attack enemy installations, take over the bases, most of it unfortunately "on tracks" with no option to choose how you want to deal with the particular island.

While the graphic side of the game was obviously vastly improved (there was difference of over 20 years between the two games), the interface was improved, but at the same time the game lost most of its appeal. The additional problems with the game engine made it a failure, while introduction of FPS elements or questionable concepts, like repair gun, were completely unnecessary and only made the game feel shallow and superficial.
