On 5th January 1900 four friends arrive for a dinner at a house of H. George Wells near London. Their host is absent, but left the message that they should start without him. Soon Wells arrives, but the state he is in shocks his guests - he is exhausted and looks sloppy, which is unusual for him. He begins to tell them what happened since New Year’s Eve 1899, last time they met. Wells tells them that he actually built the time machine and on New Year’s Eve begun his travel in time. He saw the wars, how people have changed, how changed the thing they wear, how they behave. His last stop was in year 802701...
Classic sci fi movie based on H. G. Wells novel shows the journey through times and contrary to today approach to this theme Wells concentrated on global things and not the story of single person. And as usual Wells was not mistaken in describing the world he expected to see in 20th century - global wars and destruction. A must see movie.
