During the colonization of far planets the settlers from Earth are attacked by large insect-like creatures, later called Arachnids. The attacks seemed to be unprovoked, but deadly - Arachnids simply wiped-out the whole colonies and the military commanders on Earth had to take steps. But there are two problems - they have no idea how to deal with such enemy and at the same time they need to find people ready to face the danger. The Earth citizenship is a privilege to those that served their planet, one of the ways to achieve it is through military service, so there are plenty of people desperate enough to volunteer to join the expedition to Klendathu, the planet that seems to be the home of Arachnids. Among those volunteers aboard the starships heading for enemy world are friends from Buenos Aires area - Johnny Rico, Isabel Flores, Carmen Ibanez and Carl Jenkins. They start their training with the troopers, except Carmen, who wants to become pilot. Soon they receive the information that Buenos Aires area was destroyed by asteroid launched by Arachnids and their families and friends back home are dead. On arrival on Klendathu they are ready to avenge their loved ones, but first clash with enemies turns out to be a disaster.

Sci-fi action movies based on Robert A. Heinlein novel. It is mixture of shallow science fiction story, even shallower love story and slightly better, but completely illogical, battle scenes. It?s hard to tell what was the point that creators were trying to make in Starship Troopers, but we have here completely senseless invasion of planet using infantry armed only with small arms to face insectoids that are almost immune to the bullets. Even though the tactics clearly doesn?t work the invasion goes on and the casualties are running high. It could have been quiet good film, it had a lot of adventure elements that could have worked if the film was better written and not as chaotic as it turned out to be.
