When during the mission Captain Kirk violates the Prime Directive and is demoted to be the first officer. He also loses his faith is Spock, but after arrival to headquarters they both attend the meeting where they learn that renegade Starfleet operative John Harrison was involved in bombing of the archives in London. Suddenly Harrison attacks the officers that were attending the meeting and manages to escape to Kronos, the Klingon homeworld. Kirk is again given the command over Enterprise with simple orders - to find and kill Harrison. But there are things that Kirk doesn’t know about Harrison.

Another attempt to revive the Star Trek movie series, this time with completely new set of actors playing the characters from original series. And that part worked rather well, the script was interesting, but unfortunately the project was infected by the nostalgia virus - instead of concentrating on the main plot the creators tried to please all the hardcore fans of Star Trek and implemented side stories about interactions between the characters, which not only made the movie longer, but also made it lose the pace. Overall - not bad movie, decent special effects, interesting plot, but could have been slimmed down just to the main story.
