Riddick, commander of Necromonger fleet, feels out of place in his role and thinks that being Lord Marshall is something he should give up, especially since his soldiers tried to assassinate him. He makes a deal with commander Vaako - Riddick will pass over the position of Lord Marshall to Vaako in exchange for his tranportation to planet Furya. Vaako agrees, but while on arrival to the planet Riddick realizes that it’s not Furya and Vakko again tries to kill him. Riddick manages to escape, but wounded he has to survive on desert planet filled with bloodthirsty creatures. He learns how to deal with them, he injects portions of venom of mud living creatures so he would become immune to at least some of his enemies. He trains a jackal-like creature to be almost like dog and learns that there is a vast savannah terrain on the other side of cliffs, but the only way to get there is through a narrow passage filled with the mud creatures. Riddick sees the huge storm coming, which would mean that the whole area would become one huge mud field and he would not be able to hide anywhere. When he finds the abandoned mercenary station he activates the emergency beacon hoping that someone will land before the storm and thus he would be able to leave this planet. Two ships show up in answer to his distract call, one full of low-key mercenaries and one with highly trained crew who, as it turns out, is actually looking for Riddick, but not to save him. He has to start a difficult game with both crews in order to get out of this situation.
Another movie of the Riddick series returns to motives known from original Pitch Black film - Riddick’s survival instinct is again put to the test when he is abandoned on hostile planet without any weapon or tools. He brings down a ship hoping to quickly deal with mercenaries and leave the planet, but suddenly another ship shows up and changes the whole situation. With impressive special effects, quite interesting plot and good directing it is very interesting sci fi movie.
