In year 2046 a research facility on Mars sends distract call stating that they were attacked by unknown enemies. Unit of marines is sent with search and rescue mission, their commander Sargeant Mahonin will have to improvise since they don’t know with what exactly they will have to deal, but also he has another problem. It turns out that in one of the labs vital data were storaged and his men also will have to protect Dr. Samantha Grimm while she will be retrieving them. While searching the base marines find Dr. Carmack, who sent the distract signal, and they take him to the medical bay. On the route they come across unknown creature and while pursuing it one of the marines is killed. From the base and the data they learn that in the nearby dig site the scientists have found bones of genetically enhanced race, which obviously lead to the further events. The marines have to quickly adapt to fight with the creatures, especially since Dr. carmack seemes to be turning into one.

Film based on popular sci fi FPS games (first person shooter) offers very little comparing to the games - just like in Alien movies most of the time the action is limited to chasing and shooting alien creatures in narrow corridors, often in almost complete darkness. The characters are far from being interesting, plot is rather childish (like idea that in future data have to be physically downloaded from server), but in that kind of adventure flick it really isn’t that important. If you have low expectations it might be slightly entertaining, but it really is a below par production.
