Set in the future Carrier Command was a strategy game with arcade / action elements - the archipelago of 64 islands are the target of evil organization that took over the automatized carrier and set out to take over control of the whole archipelago. You are put in command of identical carrier with target to stop them. The islands are linked so the resources could be transferred between them and using the equipment aboard the carrier you can turn those islands in one of the types - fuel producing oil rigs, factory island or defence bastion. The network of connections between islands means that you need to keep them all secure in order to make use of the resources your islands produce. But the goal is to stop enemy from gaining control over the archipelago, so you have to attack the enemy islands as well.
To do that you have the several weapons aboard the carrier, each of them you can control yourself, including two main weapons: Mantas and Walruses. Mantas are flying VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) vehicles, Walruses are amphibious tracked vehicles you can use to attack the enemy command center or drop the equipment to change the island type. You can control each of the Mantas and Walruses yourself and you can equip them using different kinds of weapons and equipment from laser guns to extra fuel tanks. During the operation you obviously will lose some of the gear, so you have to prepare your factories to replace the equipment and ammo, not to mention the fuel for the carrier as well as vehicle.
Carrier Command was a game that looked simple on the surface, but once you started your campaign you will discover how complexed and well developed this game actually was. It was one of the best computer games of late 1980s.
